Education, not advice
Everything here is general education. It is not legal or financial advice, and it does not replace the official decision on your claim, your retirement pay, or your benefits. Rules and rates change, so always confirm with the official source we link (VA.gov, DFAS, MyPay, your branch, or your state veterans agency).
Calculators show estimates
Our free calculators use the official published rates and formulas we cite on each tool page. Results are estimates for planning only. Your actual payment can differ because of your exact rating, dependents, effective dates, offsets, and other details only the VA or DFAS can confirm.
Getting help with a claim
You never have to pay anyone to file a VA disability claim. Free help is available from VA-accredited representatives at Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs), county and state veterans service officers, and accredited attorneys and claims agents. You can look up whether someone is accredited with the VA’s official Find a Representative tool. Be careful with unaccredited “claim consultants” who charge fees.
