VA Disability Pay Chart 2027: Every Rating, With Spouse and Children (3.6% COLA Estimate)
Education only, not legal or financial advice. Not affiliated with the VA or DoD. Numbers checked against official sources on October 28, 2026. Disclosures.
The VA disability pay chart 2027 starts with the official rates VA pays right now and applies the 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) that Social Security announced on October 14, 2026. At 100% with no dependents, that is $3,938.58 a month today and an estimated $4,080.37 in 2027. At 70%, it is $1,808.45 now and about $1,873.55. At 30%, it is $552.47 now and about $572.36.
One thing up front: every 2027 number on this page is an estimate. VA has not published its 2027 table, and the raise for VA disability pay is not law until Congress passes this year’s COLA bill. Below is the full official chart with every dependent row, our 2027 estimate next to each number, and the math so you can check it yourself.
Quick answer
- 100%, veteran alone: $3,938.58 now, about $4,080.37 in 2027 (+$141.79 a month)
- 100% with a spouse: $4,158.17 now, about $4,307.86 (+$149.69 a month)
- 70% with a spouse and one child: $2,074.45 now, about $2,148.55 (+$74.10 a month)
- 10% and 20%: $180.42 and $356.66 now, about $186.92 and $369.50. Dependents do not change these two rates.
- Status: ESTIMATE. The VA COLA bill (S. 4487 / H.R. 8552) had not passed when we checked on October 28, 2026.

How to read the 2027 chart
Every table below works the same way. Find your row, then read across. You need three things.
- Your combined rating. This is the single percentage on your VA decision letter, not your separate ratings added together. VA does not add ratings. A 50% rating and a 30% rating combine to 65, which VA rounds to 70%, not 80%. That is VA’s own example in 38 CFR 4.25.
- The dependents on your award. Not the people living in your house: the people VA has added to your award. If your spouse or kids are not on it, you are paid the veteran-alone rate.
- Which column you want. “Now” is VA’s official rate, effective December 1, 2025. We call these the 2026 rates because 2026 is the year you are paid on them. “2027 est.” is our estimate with the 3.6% COLA. It is not a VA number.
All amounts are per month. Multiply by 12 for a yearly figure.
Two rules trip people up. First, at 10% and 20%, VA pays one flat rate. A spouse or child does not change it. Second, the “child” rows already include your first child. The added amounts table is only for each child after the first.
2027 chart: veteran alone, 10% to 100%
This is the main chart: a veteran with no spouse, children or dependent parents on the award. It is also the only chart for 10% and 20%.
| Rating | Official now (per month) | 2027 estimate (per month) | Change per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10% | $180.42 | $186.92 | +$6.50 |
| 20% | $356.66 | $369.50 | +$12.84 |
| 30% | $552.47 | $572.36 | +$19.89 |
| 40% | $795.84 | $824.49 | +$28.65 |
| 50% | $1,132.90 | $1,173.68 | +$40.78 |
| 60% | $1,435.02 | $1,486.68 | +$51.66 |
| 70% | $1,808.45 | $1,873.55 | +$65.10 |
| 80% | $2,102.15 | $2,177.83 | +$75.68 |
| 90% | $2,362.30 | $2,447.34 | +$85.04 |
| 100% | $3,938.58 | $4,080.37 | +$141.79 |
At 50%, the rate goes from $1,132.90 to about $1,173.68, or $40.78 more a month. At 90%, it goes from $2,362.30 to about $2,447.34. The biggest jump is at 100%: about $141.79 a month, which works out to roughly $1,701.48 more over a full year.

VA Disability Calculator 2027
Combined rating (VA math, with the bilateral factor), plus dependents. Shows VA’s official monthly rate now and a 2027 estimate using the announced 3.6% COLA. Rates checked October 28, 2026.
How this calculator works (and its limits)
- VA math (38 CFR 4.25): ratings are sorted from highest to lowest. Each next rating applies only to the “remaining” percentage. Each step is rounded to a whole number. The final value is rounded to the nearest 10, and 5 rounds up. That last rounding happens only once.
- Bilateral factor (38 CFR 4.26): paired-limb ratings are combined first, then 10% of that value is added (not combined). The result counts as one rating. If leaving the factor out gives a higher result, the calculator uses that instead, as 4.26(d) says.
- Official rates: VA.gov, effective December 1, 2025.
- 2027 estimate:
- Veteran-alone rates and all 100% amounts are multiplied by 1.036 and rounded to the cent.
- At 30% to 90%, dependent amounts are a share of the 100% amount with the cents dropped (38 U.S.C. 1115). This method reproduces every official dependent row in the current table.
- Expect VA’s final numbers to differ by a few cents, and sometimes by $1.
- Children: the first child is in the base “with child” rate, and each extra child adds VA’s “additional child” amount. If all your children are 18 to 23 and in school, we count one of them in the base rate. That is our assumption, so confirm it with VA.
- TDIU check: checks only the percentage rule in 38 CFR 4.16(a). Paired-limb ratings count as one disability.
- Not included:
- Special monthly compensation (SMC)
- A TDIU decision (only VA decides)
- Retired pay offsets (CRDP or CRSC)
- Back pay
- Ratings that are not multiples of 10
- Privacy: everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent or saved.

2027 chart with a spouse
From 30% up, a spouse on your award raises your monthly rate. This table also covers a spouse plus one or two dependent parents, with no children.

| 100% | $4,158.17 | $4,307.86 | $4,334.41 | $4,490.45 | $4,510.65 | $4,673.03 |
Read it like this. A veteran rated 70% with a spouse gets $1,961.45 a month today. With the 3.6% COLA, our estimate is $2,032.55, which is $71.10 more a month. At 100% with a spouse, the rate goes from $4,158.17 to about $4,307.86.
Here is something most charts don’t point out: families get a bigger raise in dollars. At 100%, a veteran alone gets about $141.79 more a month. With a spouse, it is about $149.69. That is because the spouse amount gets the COLA too. At 100%, the spouse amount is $219.59 today ($4,158.17 minus $3,938.58), and our estimate puts it at $227.49 in 2027.
Tip: For military spouses doing the family budget: the “with spouse” row only applies if VA has added you to the award. A marriage certificate in a drawer does not count until VA processes it.
2027 chart with children
These rows include one child. If you have more than one, start here and then add the per-child amount from the added amounts table further down.

2027 chart with dependent parents only
VA also pays more for a dependent parent, at 30% and up. Few veterans have one on their award, so most charts skip these rows. Here they are with no spouse and no children.

| 100% | $4,114.82 | $4,262.95 | $4,291.06 | $4,445.54 |
At 100%, one dependent parent takes the rate from $3,938.58 to $4,114.82 today. Our 2027 estimate for that row is $4,262.95.
Added amounts: extra children and spouse Aid and Attendance
These are not full rates. They are amounts you add on top of your row from the tables above.
- Each extra child under 18: for every child after the first.
- Each extra child 18 to 23 in school: for each child in that age range who is in school. This amount is larger than the under-18 amount.
- Spouse Aid and Attendance: added when VA has approved Aid and Attendance for your spouse.
| Rating | Each extra child under 18 now | Each extra child under 18 2027 est. | Each extra child 18 to 23 in school now | Each extra child 18 to 23 in school 2027 est. | Spouse Aid and Attendance now | Spouse Aid and Attendance 2027 est. |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 30% | $32.00 | $33.00 | $105.00 | $109.00 | $61.00 | $62.00 |
| 40% | $43.00 | $45.00 | $140.00 | $146.00 | $81.00 | $83.00 |
| 50% | $54.00 | $56.00 | $176.00 | $182.00 | $101.00 | $104.00 |
| 60% | $65.00 | $67.00 | $211.00 | $219.00 | $121.00 | $125.00 |
| 70% | $76.00 | $79.00 | $246.00 | $255.00 | $141.00 | $146.00 |
| 80% | $87.00 | $90.00 | $281.00 | $292.00 | $161.00 | $166.00 |
| 90% | $98.00 | $101.00 | $317.00 | $328.00 | $181.00 | $187.00 |
| 100% | $109.11 | $113.04 | $352.45 | $365.14 | $201.41 | $208.66 |
At 70%, each extra child under 18 adds $76.00 today. Our estimate is $79.00 for 2027. A child 18 to 23 in school adds $246.00 today, and our estimate is $255.00.
Watch out: The estimated added amounts at 30% to 90% are whole dollars because the law drops the cents on those amounts. If you see a 2027 chart that shows cents on these rows below 100%, it was built with a shortcut, not the rule.
How dependents add up: three worked examples
The formula is simple: start with the row that matches your spouse and parents (with the child row if you have any kids), then add each extra child and spouse Aid and Attendance if it applies. Here is how it plays out.
Example 1: 70%, spouse, three children under 18, spouse Aid and Attendance
This is the same example VA uses on its own rates page, so you can check our method against VA’s answer.
Official now (effective December 1, 2025)
Spouse + 1 child at 70%: $2,074.45
Two more children under 18: 2 x $76.00 = $152.00
Spouse Aid and Attendance at 70%: $141.00
Total: $2,074.45 + $152.00 + $141.00 = $2,367.45 a month (matches VA’s example)
2027 ESTIMATE
Spouse + 1 child at 70%: $2,148.55
Two more children under 18: 2 x $79.00 = $158.00
Spouse Aid and Attendance at 70%: $146.00
Total: $2,148.55 + $158.00 + $146.00 = $2,452.55 a month, or $85.10 more
Example 2: 80%, spouse, one child under 18, one child 18 to 23 in school
Official now
Spouse + 1 child at 80%: $2,406.15
One child 18 to 23 in school at 80%: $281.00
Total: $2,406.15 + $281.00 = $2,687.15 a month
2027 ESTIMATE
Spouse + 1 child at 80%: $2,492.83
One child 18 to 23 in school: $292.00
Total: $2,492.83 + $292.00 = $2,784.83 a month, or $97.68 more
The under-18 child counts as the “first child” in the base row. The college-age child is the extra one, at the school rate.
Example 3: 30%, spouse, one child
Official now: spouse + 1 child at 30% = $666.47 a month
2027 ESTIMATE: $690.36 a month, or $23.89 more
Compare: veteran alone at 30% = $552.47 now, about $572.36 in 2027
Having the spouse and child on the award is worth $114.00 a month today ($666.47 minus $552.47).
That last line is the point. At 30%, getting your family on the award is worth more each month than the whole 2027 COLA.
How we estimated 2027 (and why some charts are off)
As an Army veteran, I would rather show you the math than ask you to trust a chart. Here is exactly how every 2027 number on this page was built.
Veteran-alone rates and every 100% amount: the official rate times 1.036, rounded to the cent. At 30%: $552.47 x 0.036 = $19.88892, which rounds to $19.89. Add it back and you get $572.36.
We tested this method on last year’s raise. VA’s rates effective December 1, 2024, times 1.028 (last year’s 2.8% COLA) give exactly the rates VA published for December 1, 2025. For example, $3,831.30 x 1.028 = $3,938.58. So for the veteran-alone rates, we expect the estimate to land within a cent or two of VA’s final number.
Dependent rows at 30% to 90%: this is where a lot of charts online slip. Under 38 U.S.C. 1115, the dependent amount at these ratings is a share of the 100% dependent amount, and any cents are dropped. Here it is with the 70% spouse-and-child row.
Check it against today’s official table
100% spouse + 1 child: $4,318.99. 100% veteran alone: $3,938.58.
Family amount at 100%: $4,318.99 – $3,938.58 = $380.41
70% of $380.41 = $266.287. Drop the cents: $266
$1,808.45 + $266 = $2,074.45 (exactly VA’s number)
Same steps for the 2027 ESTIMATE
$4,474.47 – $4,080.37 = $394.10
70% of $394.10 = $275.87. Drop the cents: $275
$1,873.55 + $275 = $2,148.55
The shortcut most sites use, $2,074.45 x 1.036, gives $2,149.13. That is 58 cents high. Not a big deal for your budget, but it tells you whether the person who built the chart read the rule. This model reproduces every official dependent row in VA’s current table.
Spouse Aid and Attendance at 30% to 90%: the 100% amount times your rating, with the cents dropped. VA’s published amounts at 30% to 70% run $1 higher than that rule gives, so our estimate on that one row may be $1 low.
Watch out: Three red flags on any 2027 chart you find: it calls itself “official” before VA has published; it shows a “10% with spouse” or “20% with spouse” rate (VA’s table has no such thing); or it has no link to VA.gov and no date.
When the 2027 chart becomes official
Here is where things stood when we checked on October 28, 2026.
- October 14, 2026: the Social Security Administration announced a 3.6% COLA for 2027. VA’s rates page says VA disability pay matches the Social Security COLA percentage.
- The bill: for VA disability pay, the raise becomes law through a short bill Congress passes each year. This year it is the Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2026: S. 4487 in the Senate (introduced May 11, 2026) and H.R. 8552 in the House.
- What the bill says: the increase takes effect December 1, 2026, at the same percentage as the Social Security increase.
- Status: the bill trackers we checked showed it had not passed either chamber. H.R. 8552 was listed as in committee.
Once the bill passes and is signed, VA publishes the new table on its rates page. You do not apply for the COLA. VA applies it to your award automatically. When that table is up, this page switches from estimate to official.
The full story on the COLA, including what it means at every rating per month and per year, is in our VA disability increase 2027 guide.
What to do if VA’s table differs
When VA posts its 2027 table, VA’s numbers win. Always. Here is what to expect and what to do.
- Small differences are normal. Expect VA’s final numbers to differ from any estimate by a few cents, and possibly by a dollar on dependent rows. That is rounding, not a problem with your pay.
- If your payment doesn’t match VA’s table for your row, check the basics first: your combined rating on your decision letter, and the dependents VA actually has on your award.
- If a dependent is missing, add them through VA.gov’s add or remove dependents page. VA says to file within a year of a marriage, birth or adoption to get paid back to that date.
- If you are also a military retiree, retired pay has its own COLA under a different law. Compare VA’s table to your VA payment only.
- If something still looks wrong, talk to a VA-accredited Veterans Service Organization (VSO). Their help with your claim is free. Do not pay an unaccredited “claim consultant.” Only VA-accredited attorneys and claims agents may charge for VA claim help, and a VSO costs nothing.

FAQ
Is the VA disability pay chart 2027 official yet?
No. As of October 28, 2026, VA had not published its 2027 table and the COLA bill (S. 4487 / H.R. 8552) had not passed. Any “projected” or “prediction” chart, including this one, is an estimate. Ours uses the 3.6% COLA Social Security announced on October 14, 2026.

How do I add a spouse and child to VA disability?
Use VA.gov’s add or remove dependents page. VA says to file within a year of a marriage, birth or adoption to get paid back to that date. It only changes your rate if you are rated 30% or higher, and a free VA-accredited VSO can help you file.
How much is the 2027 COLA increase on the VA pay chart?
The COLA is 3.6%. For a veteran alone, that is about $6.50 more a month at 10%, $65.10 at 70% and $141.79 at 100%. Families get a little more in dollars, because the dependent amounts rise too.
